and the music blasting out a Spanish song
and then a slow one, and then a popular one
all the girls in their high heels and kissable lips
all the boys in their button-downs and dark pants
and singing along even though you can’t sing
swaying and twirling and moving to the beat
watching a slide show of little fifth-graders
making funny faces for the camera
those fifth-graders wer you, long ….

Graduation Day is the climax of a dream.
A parental dream that began when a child is born,
And their hope come true it would seem,
A triumph held after periods of forlorn,
A feeling of pride and euphoria years away
For a daughter or son - Graduation Day.
It is a peak of success for the graduate,
Not only for the graduate but parents too.
A joyful event after many years they had to wait,
Realizing the glorious thrill of a dream come true,
A genuine smile ….

Graduation Day was today after school
school got out early
all of the future Freshmen
had to report to the High School Gymnasium
for a rehearsal…
it lasted about an hour
when she got home to get ready
for her graduation that would be starting
in 3 hours…
her sister had already been at home
her sisters friend Malorie was sitting
on the couch watchin ‘Moulin Rouge’
her dad was also watchin it…
she sat down to relax before she got ready
she took a sip of her bottled water

All of your happy and sad times in high school have now faded.
A new life has begun on your own.
No more waking up dreading that this day will never get here.
Now the day is here and your missing everyone before they even
walk through these high school doors.

Not only for you
Your friends and your family

Middle school is coming and going
It will soon come to end
All those memories
All those friends
8th Grade Yearbooks were getting signed
And everyone
Was being so kind
Graduation Day is here
And as I looked upon my peers, I thought
High school is our last 4 years
After that, we’ll be seperated
Some leave for college
Maybe never to be re-united
While we may not see each other
